Summit HEI coming next week

Going to install this prior to motor swap, want to make sure it's working, one less headache after the swap.
so I need to trace the hot wire back , and add a relay for the connection?
I'm really psyched to get the new motor going!

On your ignition control module there are 2 plugs. One plug has 2 wires to it. One of those 2 wires is what you want to run the HEI, it is the thicker wire of the two.

No relay required.

what product were you using from summit?

I installed the summit hei dist and has to be the best upgrade I have done a 1 wire upgrade I call it . I have an 89 yj 4.2 and my idle smoothed out and I can actually keep it at 400 rpm with out dying worth the money ill say that much

I'm very happy with my Stealth HEI set-ups. Runs way better, and no trouble from them Even happier with my msd6a and blaster coil with the duraspark dist. If there's enough power in my battery to turn the engine even once, that msd'll fire it right up.
And they were all free.

I like the 6a boxes as well. And will probably get one at some point, and maybe a blue bottle too! Tell me more about the cam gear, the one i took off looked perfect, is it safe to reuse?

The cam and dizzy gears need to be a matched set. Either use the old dizzy gear that matched the cam gear, or replace with a matched set

Bingo!
Super easy install, and runs way better!!!
Haven'tset timing yet, but just going down the road it feels way better.
Hardest part of install was explaining to parts store mgr that I needed hei wires...
clearance is tight with the air pump hoses, but Ima ditch that junk when new motor goes in!

Smart move to get it running first. Will make the engine break in easier.

You might also consider getting an extra ignition control module for it before too long. Part DR100. It's cheap (like 20 bucks) and easy to replace. But if it goes out and you are in the middle of BFE your truck isn't going to run. Cheap insurance.

It took a few years for mine to go but when they do they do.
