stalling problems
I can't figure out what is wrong, I will be driving the wagoneer, and it will sputter and die. . . if i go put starter fluid in the carb it starts back up and runs for a bit then dies again. But I noticed that if I keep a full tank of gas in, it does not have problems for quite a while, then when it sputters and dies and i put the starter fluid in the carb, get to a gas station fill up it does fine. I replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter... any more suggestions? May this be a carb issues, I bought a stock one that had been refurbished off ebay, is there something I'm missing... thanks so much for all your help!

Obviously the carb is being starved for fuel somewhere, if you say it runs when its full and you're positive about that, i could possibly see the pickup tube in the gas tank rotting away and breaking in half and its only sucking gas from the top of the tank. This is just a guess, my pickup tube was super rotted and I could have broken it easily, when moisture condensates in the tank when the vehicle sits it will eat up the tank and stuff in it. Maybe instead of dropping the tank to check, put a clear inline fuel filter on and see if its even getting gas when its having the running problems, or just drop the tank, it really isn't that hard. I found mine to be very rusty and I coated it with a pour in liner because all the rust inside kept clogging fuel filters.

Bad pump causing low pressure or the MTBE has turned the hoses into piccolos!
