Asa Jay's 1982 Jeep Grand Wagoneer
This is what I call the Jeepand, model II. The first was a 1961 Willys my grandfather built, and that I subsequently wrecked some 25 years ago. We kept it for years afterward, hacking it up into a gross-mobile of sorts. Eventually, I kept the engine and transmission (a 1967 AMC 327 and TH400), purchased a newer 1982 Wagoneer (without engine and trans) and went to work.
The culmination of that work is what you can now find on my web site here: http://www.asajay.com/Jeep/jeep.htm I finished the mechanicals around 1999/2000. Since then I've had to replace the Holley ProJection computer once, get the starter rebuilt with new Mistubishi (I think) innards (the Prestolite starter is no longer available anywhere I can find), custom fabricated headers (can't find exhaust manifolds for it anymore either) and have used it mostly as a farm rig for years. Currently, the thermostatic fan isn't switching on anymore and the entire lighting system has gone down. So I have some more work to do to it this summer. Enjoy, Asa Jay |

Here's another M715. It's a '68 with a swapped in 6.2 diesel and SM465. I think I've been putting off the locker(s) long enough, though.

1988 grand wagoneer
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Have had this jeep since 2005 and has been great. It broke down on my honeymoon and also got into the readers rigs section in JP for that incident. It droped about 2 1/2 quarts of oild on the way to work one day last year and hasent ever been the same(rear main). I can fil it up and it will leak down to the add line no matter how many times i fill it up or run it or not run it. Either way I'll drive it till it blows up for good and I'll replace the motor

Here's the black tank...she's ugly as sin, but she takes just about anything I throw at 'er! (Well, she didn't appreciate me flipping her on her side a couple months ago...but everything else has been pretty smooth)
I've pretty well chopped the living crap out of this truck...and I have plans to "reciprocate" off some more metal. ![]() ![]() - '78 J-10 Short box (about to be shorter!) - D44s (I know...I need to fix that) with Detroits front/rear - 4.88s - SOA and shackle flip - High-steer with 1.5" tie rod - 37" PJ Dirt Grip shoes (again...I know...lame) ![]() And I'm about to whack about 10" from the bed and frame...so the bed will be only as long as the rear shackles. We'll see how that goes. ![]() Here she is in an unfortunate position... (lost about 15 gallons of fuel here. Dang!) The lesson here: Don't try to climb trees with your truck! Body damage can occur! (Plus I has to get flipped over by a Dodge...my CJ-7 wasn't up to the task - how embarrassing!) ![]() I think the only part I don't like about owning and driving a badass J-truck is when my idiot friends (I'm 19 - they're around my age) say "what is that?" or "oh, you have a Jeep truck? Is that like a Wrangler?"...it's pathetic, really. I'm like "dude, just hop back into your Civic and don't worry about trying to figure my truck out...you're too young and uneducated." Lol...I want to slap some of these city kids! ![]()
