I am gathering up what I need for a 454 BBC/T400 swap. I want to run 33" 35" at biggest.
I want oodles of torque so I am building the 454 for 540Ft lbs as a goal.

So far I have a few options for things.

Swap tail shafts, keep my (I think it's a 208 or 229) transfer case and 44's.

I also have access to a Dana 300, an NP205, a GM 208

Also know where some 8-lug Jeep axles are but they won't come cheap.

I found a Dana 60 front and the rear is either a D60 or 70. Idk. Didn't ask. They're under a mid-80's fire truck with some big leaf springs. I can get these with 4.11 ratio for $500 from a friend.

It will be daily driven and not see much highway. Occasional trails and might pull a travel trailer time to time.

Would my 4" spring lift with SOA SF be too much lift for 35"s?

What transfer case/axle combo do you recommend?

One guy offered me a 454 with a blower for my 401 today. (We'll see about this)

trading your 401 for a 454? i thought your 401 was new? id say the 205- all gm drivetrain is easier to find parts. you can find 8 lug dana 44s from j20s and dana 60 rearends cheap and you could build it up. or run em as is til you break something then upgrade

It is new. But that is a whole other story.

I was thinking about a GM t-case because it will bolt to the tranny easily. But the front shaft is on the wrong side. So I would have to wait until I swapped axles before I could use 4x4.

Or I can swap the tail shaft and run my Jeep t-case until I swap axles then I'd need a transfer case that is a passenger drop that will bolt to the T400 with a jeep output shaft and stand up to the warmed over 454.
