rear tailgate window
Hey guys,
I'm new here and this is the first forum I've ever been involved with so please bare with me. Anyway, I just purchased a used 88' Grand Wagoneer. It's got it's share of issues so you'll be hearing alot from me. My first question is that my tailgate's motor and controls were disconnected. There is a rubber hose with five wires running through it coming out of the bottom of the tailgate. It's about four or five feet long, and was just lying on the floor in the back. Does anyone know where it's supposed to connect and how to fix it? I'd appreciate it. Also the bars that are supposed to support the tailgate are still slack when the tailgate's down. Is this a problem or is it common?

Well after further tear down, i discovered that the previous owner found a way to hot wire the tailgate, and connecting these spare wires in certain ways could either lower or raise the window. I have since removed the wires because having live wires floating around a stripped interior is NOT COOL. I still haven't figured out what's wrong with the system but I'm waiting til i get it in my new house's garage before i do anything else. Would appreciate any pics of a working unit though, my wire colors don't completely match the wiring diagram in my repair manual.
