Question about the Jeep Grand Wagoneer

Did the Jeep Grand Wagoneer ever come with only 5 passengers or was it always 6 passengers?

Does anybody hear know? I heard that they can come with a five passenger only, but I need someone to confirm it.

Wagoneers and some early FSJ Cherokees did come with benches front and rear, but I think by the time the Grand Wagoneer rolled out they were front buckets only.

I didn't realize passengers were included in the purchase of a GW...

Sorry, I couldn't resist!

Are you sure? I have been endlessly looking for pictures online but all I get are bucket seats. Anybody has a picture of the front bucket configuration?

Can anybody please tell me so I can end this search? It really has been bugging me. MSN Autos says that the 1988 version is a 5-passenger. Are they right?

I have an 88 and it is a 6 person. Two buckets in front with a seat under the arm console. Only really comfortable for a kids butt. My little rugrats love it! Bench in the back fir three more.

Actually, I found out what I needed to find out. Its only a 5 seater when there is no seatbelts under the arm console.

Fair enough...easy to grab a set at a junkyard and slap them on though for future use.

My 89 is a 6 seater.

I guess that seatbelt makes all the difference in the front bench seat!

When doing your research, make sure that you are looking at info for the SJ, and not the XJ wagoneer.
From 1984(or 1986, sources vary) to 1990, there was a wagoneer and a wagoneer limited package available on the XJ cherokee platform. Those would definitely be only a 5 seater vehicle.
