Picked up a Cherokee

I mostly stay over in the CJ forum, but I think I'll be visiting here more often!
I traded for a 1978 Cherokee.
Here are a few pics.

I hacked the bar off of the bumper with a sawzall. I will do a better job when my son Sam gets back from a trip with the Gparents.

It has a nearly new set of BFG AT's. That's a good thing it will be a while before we get to the tires and lift.

These are the only rust spots I can find; from what I have read these are common spots.

The inside is OK. The AC works, it just needs charging.

The seats are all different so I guess we will try to find a donor and get them recovered,

Under the hood needs to be cleaned up and the Team Rush was poorly done and we will fix that as well.

A few more pics

One of the kids getting to know each other.

We are thinking of going with this paint scheme

Nice find to have one with a four speed. I had one in the mid-80s with a four speed in high school and wish I had kept it.

Now take a grinder and knock the rest of the those tube stubs off. They look like something that could hurt someone not watching where they walk.

No it's a 3 speed, I have a T176 on the shelf that may find it's way into it.
I might go NV4500 if it will work.

YOUR AS OLD AS ME
My son needed some grinding lessons (read he wanted some MONEY) so I waited for him to get home.
The bumper is junk.
One of the PO's used the stock bumper brackets to attach it to the frame.
We are gathering steel to build a bumper that is more substantial.

CSP I never got to thank you for helping me in another thread about the TBI on my CJ.

THANKS!

I like!

looks like you could swap in a TFI coil pretty easily if you wanted too, someone already put in the distributor components (and maybe 8mm wires too?).
