I have gone several years. It's a great time. You can keep the costs 'low' by staying at the Ouray KOA which is where most of the FSJ folks camp. The trail rides are totally unorganized. Basically they sit around a fire and at some point trail discussions come up. A few possibilities arise. You semi-commit to one or another (or not). Then you get up in the morning and possibly change your mind. It's not unusual for several rigs to be pulling out and you say 'Where ya going' and you decide if you want to tag along. No official trail leader, no official sweeper.
I have run most of the trails and never get bored.
If you show up early there are always a few guys heading out before the official dates.
