New guy with some new toys

Hello everyone. Love the forum, I am along time jeep nut. But sad to say never owned one till a few months ago. I bought 1977 j10. I have driven past this thing every day for years, it never moved. With about ten no trespassing signs all around it. Then finally a for sale sign, I almost drove off the road when I saw it. 500 bucks, didn't ask if it ran or anything I was just glad to own it. Well it didn't run but it turn over. A new fuel pump and a Jerry rigged moonshine jug for a gas tank And I got her home. She needs some body work but she runs great!

I always thought it would be cool to have an auxiliary fuel cell that looks like a moonshine jug for race fuel with a NOS set up.

Anyways, welcome to the forum!

We are glad to have another member.

Ok so I got another j10 for parts it's a 1979 with a 360, no drive train or front clip. The bed and can are in great shape. But small problem the 77 is model 45 and the 79 is model 25. What to do? Should I take from the 77 and fix the 79 or from 79 to fix the 77. Any thoughts?

So the '79 is the long bed and a 3/4 ton if it's a 45. The bed from it won't fit the '77 and that and the cab are about the only parts that you would rob to use on the '77 aren't they?

The '77 is a 1/2 ton. Yeah that's right.

I could take the axles, tranny, transfer case and the front clip form the '77 and put in on the '79. And hold on to or part out the rest of the '77

The transmissions have a different input shaft when you compare V8 to straight six. The inputs on transmissions behind V8s are longer, so your transmission won't work with the 360.

Well crap. But it's fine I am getting a CJ8 that has a 360 in it. Doesn't hurt to have a backup motor
