My wife will kill me for this!

I have three1979 Cherokees. I've been offered a 1989 Waggy for parts. How much of the 89 is compatible with the 79. Frame, Sheet metal, running gear etc.?

Tell her all of it. But seriously most of it will match up. You will find the newer version has a bunch more smog items on it but overall it all should work together. You will find the 89 has a 360 v8 and some other goodies. It is in the same class as the final Grand (91) in terms of parts. There is a few sheet metal changes but hey are small and most noticeable will be the grill and the hood ornament and hood. Other than that you will find most parts interchange and the newer parts (interior specially) may be much more comfortable than the 79 parts.

Thanks Grape Ape. That is what I was wondering. I guess if that Waggy shows up in the Drive way, my wife will surely know. Being obsessed with big Jeeps isn't that horrible tho.I would really like the guy to put the waggy back on the road, but if he cannot I don't want to see it crushed, and I do need some parts including the frame.
