Modding the J10

I am wanting to push some pretty serious HP out of my 258 and I wanted to know what a good transmission would be to hook up to it so that it will hold together. Plus I would like a five speed anyway. Right now it just has the t176 and i do not think that it will hold up and I do not like the high first gear. What are your thoughts and ideas on this?? thanks!
