Ideas for a center consul for a Grand Wagoneer

Hey,

Does anyone have a good idea for a center consul for a Grand Wagoneer? I used to have a black plastic cup-holder rig with some extra room for change and tapes but have no idea where it is now.

Has anyone made one from scratch? If you have any ideas please let me know and if your are particularly fond of your consul attach a pic too!

I just ordered an original tape deck/radio from Wagonmaster so I am hoping to find something that will hold a few cassettes. Gotta keep it 80s, baby.

Grand Wagoneers Rule!

Older suburban ones work great. Seen a few in waggys and they look nice!

Hey 79chiefs,

I never thought of that - great suggestion. I will check it out. Do any brands/manufacturers come to mind or should I just search for suburban center consuls in general?

Gratefully,

JSL.....Since you've got the tape deck, you should look into CD changers. I have one that was factory in a 96 buick. It hooks up through the antenna, and you just put your radio on 88.whatever it is. Has a remote for the controls.

Not sure. It might be worth googling.

Keep the seat

Thanks for all of the ideas.

I might have been mistaking in using the term "center consul."

I want to keep the little seat between the driver and passenger seats.

What I'm looking for is something that can rest on the floor right beneath the radio/dashboard.

Something like this: (picture from Wagonmaster)

(also attached)

Any ideas on where to find something like this or how to build one? Other suggestions for a console if I want to keep the seat?

Thanks again and MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I have a generic hump console from Advance Auto. It doesn't fit the hump correctly, but I added some 8" strips of 1/2"x2" pine wood on the outer edges to make it fit, I then put on some strips of the hooky side of a velcro strip on the inner edges to grab the carpet. This thing does not move, even with a 32oz drink in it, and I didn't have to drill any holes in the floor.
