Howell TBI Question/help

So I just got my Howell TBI kit for my 84 GW. I am trying to get an idea on what others have done regarding the air filter or cold air intake? I would greatly appreciate it. I'm not havering much luck finding anything to fit

Assuming that this is on an AMC V8 engine, any stock AMC V8 air filter housing will fit it as well as just about any Chevy V8 that had a carb or TBI.

They all have the same 5-1/16" opening that the throttle body takes.

Ok so just any air intake will work? I was told the neck on this is 5 1/4. All the aftermarket air assemblies say they are 5 1/8". Just don't want to by something and it not fit.

The 5-1/8" number is correct. Look above where I put 5-1/16". That's straight off of memory and we all can't remember everything in exact detail. Any four barrel carb, GM throttle bodies, your existing 2bbl carb, etc and so on all use this same size opening.

Try your stock housing instead of reading numbers on the internet! Of course, if it's on the internet it must be true, right?

Thanks for the info. I do appreciate it. I have an Edelbrock intake and will now find an air cleaner that I like.

Just to save confusion. I have the Edlebrock intake that the Howell TBI will sit on. I am trying to find what air cleaner assembly will work. So if it's 5 1/8" almost all of them will fit. I've obviously made this way harder than it needed to be

The same thing still applies. The intake has nothing to do with the size of the TBI opening.

Keep us posted on the TBI swap, I am eyeing this as an option in the future and would love to know how it goes.
