fuel pump keeps dying/ need woodgrain templates

I've had to replace my mechanical fuel pump twice since February.
Are there any issues w/ OEM pumps that I am unaware of?

Also, I am thinking of mounting an electric 'push' pump under-body near the tank to kill this mechanical pump issue once-and-for-all. Will it be necessary to take off the mechanical pump under the hood or can I just leave it there?

Any help would be appreciated.
Anyone know where I can get some templates for the faux wood graining on the body? Some friends and I want to make real wood siding. We've corrected the contouring issue, just need to get the proper sizing down.

Since I do not want veneer, I might even miter/cut a 'hole' and place a wood piece within the fender/doors/quarters; then weld the seam shut.

Yeah, I'm bored!
cheers all!

The pumps are dying from crud coming up the lines and getting caught in the inlet valve, or grinding up the diaphragm. I cure that by adding an inline filter (see thru) right before the pump.
