Fixing up a 73 j4000

Hey guys, I am a high school student and this is my first project car. This is why I say "fixing up" instead of restoring because there will probably be a lot of mistakes made. Today I had to pull up all of the carpet and remove the seat because of an enormous ant infestation. So my first question (because there will be many) is what need to go down on the floor before putting the seat back in? I'm not sure exactly sure what was originally there because my grandfather ripped it up and replaced it by just laying regular house carpet over the floor. So if anyone has any info about this topic or really anything that I need to do for this project I greatly appreciate it.

There is an auto carpet company that sells a molded floor carpet for J-Series trucks. I'll get you the name and details from the box I have tomorrow... I think it's Auto Custom Carpets. Kind of like an outdoor all purpose type Carpet that's a little more "squishy" or soft if that helps lol.
