Hey guys. I know this has been covered 1000 times or more, but I have to ask. Does anyone know what wood grain color that the wood trim is? I'm having my 91 JGW painted. I was given the task of removing the old double sided tape from the trim. I used a paint scraper, heat gun, flat head screw driver, goo gone , and some really strong stuff called goof off. It got the tape off but on a couple of pieces (only small sections) the goof off got between the rubber trim and the vinyl wood grain and peeled the wood grain off. The tailgate trim got it the worst. I've tried to find decent pieces on ebay and have had no luck. All other pieces are in pretty good shape.
The fact that the guy at Wagoneer World, and the Wagon Master has somehow found a way to restore these tells me that there is a vinyl out there that matches the color, pattern, and the sheen of the original. I took mine to a local vinyl decal/print shop and they found some made by 3M. It looks good but the grain is to pronounced or dark. Also he wasn't sure what the sheen was like. Just curious if anyone has any clue on what colors/sheen could be used to get close to a perfect match? If anyone knows please let me and the rest of the JGW community what it is. Thanks
