Did jeep and Ford ever merge

I am new to this sight but my father and i bought a 1982 jeep j20 at an auction and it has a ford 460 and it has one ton axles on it so i was just wondering if jeep and ford ever merged to build a few of these?

No. Probably a swap. Are you sure it's a ford 460?

Also fyi. Amc had a 360 A 390 and 401 among other v8 sizes. The are not the same as the ford engines or dodge engines.

Anybody can add an emblem from another vehicle just like they can add an engine from another vehicle. The paint doesn't change because someone put a Ford badge on it.

It's not, regardless of how it looks.

That's good though that it looks factory. That means whoever did it paid attention to the details and most likely did a really good job of it.

Back in WWII, Jeep and Ford both made military jeeps, but that's about all I know. It probably is a swap. I've seen a corvette engine in a Bronco.
