Dana 20 stuck in 4hi

Ive got a Th400 and dana 20 in my 78 wagoneer and i havent been able to get it to move out of 4hi, its got the grease box with the U shift patern is there a common issue with these?

Worn out shifter is.

Take the shifter apart, clean and grease it, and it might work better.

Many abandon the U-shifter and go twin stick.

Ok that's what I was thinking it probably is, I'm planning on doing twin sticks at some point but I just wasn't sure if these cases had some sort of common issue with the shift rails seizing,it hasn't been driven really since I put it in there 2 years ago or so but it worked fine before that
