Bulltear dipstick tube woes

Well that thing just fought me all the way. No matter which way I directed it, it didn't seem to want to slide in. I finally had to put a wrench on it and "finessed" it in with a hammer. It still has about half an inch to go down and won't budge. And the dipstick won't rest all the way in it. I am half tempted to just plug the hole and not use one. Any input

I didn't. But I live in Colorado Springs and I'm sure the thermodynamics won't matter as much if the block isn't at least 70*

I ended up breaking it when I tried to remove it. I don't have the patience for waiting on another tube before I start it up. I put a bolt in the hole and smothered it with RTV. now if I could only find a 7/16 bolt that's 6.5" long. No one seems to have one.

I'm thinking the broke tube wont be heavy enough for that. Not sure though.
