Built New Rear interior panels

Used thin MDF built new panels to replace the warped, moldy crap that was rattling and falling off. Also installed my new 6.5" Alpine components.

Nice. I'm doing my door panels in my j10. What made you decide on the mdf? I went with plexiglass, to withstand the moisture.

Just had a few sheets already and figured it wont get wet, plus its super dense for avoiding vibrations from the speakers. I like the plexiglass idea no more warped moldy crap. I am ordering an entire new carpet kit soon so for now I just glued the existing onto the new backers using Super 77. Long range i plan to box in the back of the 6.5"s and tune them properly. A good pair of 6.5" mid woofers can produce really nice tight accurate bass. Also debating where to hide the power amps. I have 2 JL Audio units. 300/2 and 300/4 sitting in the garage. I installed Polk 5x7" into the front doors and sealed them with Dynamat. Day and night difference having good door drivers. The rears are components but I am planning to run the 1" tweets up high and pointed at the front so the staging should be cleaner. 12" JL sub etc. Alpine HU with time correction helps get it all dialed in.

you should build some fish tanks in there have sharks swimming around in the doors scare the $$$T out of passengers.

Very nice. I just posted up some pics of a vinyl cover I did in some other threads so I won't repeat here. That looks really really good.

I'm sure the mdf, even it does get wet, can handle that moisture better than the stock cardboard

And I say I had a good reason for the plexiglas, but it was also the only material on hand

All because I wanted to be able to hear the stereo.

I did some dynamat behind them as well and on the wheel Wells. Big improvement. Also rebuilding my rear axle, new bearings that cut out 75% of rear tire noise. I plan to do more hushmat, and mass backed carpet replacement all at once along w all new seals, window felts etc. need to repaint all the interior metal parts like the door panel rails, rear window trim, it has surface rust on it and makes truck look beatup. Figure new rugs, headliner will make smell new too.

Hey Super

Did you do a post about the rear bearings. My Wagon also came with factory "wet puppy" scent.

I think I did a few pix on the what did you do today section. They are a bit of a chore, an angle grinder, 20 ton press made it easier. I just ground the old races and hit them with a chisel to crack them off the axles. Rebuilt replaced all the braking system too. Front/rear calipers, hoses, master cyl etc.
