How many bolts hold the bell housing to the block? Please tell me 6.
And why were they so f'n tight. I lifted myself off the ground on three of them. Holy crap.

Yep, there are six assuming you're asking about an AMC engine.

I figure they were tight because they hold your transmission to your engine....two things you dont want to come apart...

Yeah I understand they need to be tight, but holeeeeey crap. I've been tinkering on cars for 30ish years and have removed many motors and transmissions and have NEVER had bell housing bolts so tight I was afraid of breaking them off.
