Axle play

89 GW, far as I know it's stock, 112,000.

Just picked the Jeep up, pulled tire to repair leak, decided to pull the drum off since I'm there, axle shaft has a small amount of in/out play in it, any thoughts? Thanks.

The axle wheel bearing seal is what adjusts bearing tension, it is a crush sleeve, You have to replace the wheel bearings to replace the seal in most cases. Set 10 bearing with a National Seal # NS9912.

if its small then dont be too concerned. note that there should not be any though. my old axle was a mess it had about 1/4 - 3/8 inch of play on both sides and i just swapped the whole thing.
