90 Grand Wagoneer Question
I am considering purchasing a 90 Jeep Wagoneer. It is in great shape, of course needs some work and it will be nice to have a manageable project.

My question is this. It hesitates to the point of nearly stalling during acceleration from about 10-25 mph. I don't know anything about carburetors and not much more about engines. Is this worth taking on as a total nubie? Is this going to be a fairly inexpensive fix to get working correctly?

Well, the process of rebuilding the carburetor is really simple. you just have to take your time and make sure all the new parts go back in, the same way that the old ones came out. And, you should be able to pick up a decent rebuild kit for around $30 or less. However, the time consuming part is getting everything tuned just right once you get the carb back together.

take a look at this thread, it's prety much a step-by-step for rebuilding a 2150 (that's the carb that should be on a 90 GW).

It could be a number of things, so don't just jump on the assumption that it's the carb. It could be something as simple as a vacuum line with a crack in it.

Not to say that it isn't the carb or that a rebuild is a bad idea, but there are a number of possibilities.

Its worth it if you want a GW. You probably won't find one in perfect condition without spending double digit thousands. Common problems are ignition, vacume, carburation, and pretty much everything else. There are alot of resources online without alot of experience necessary. If its worth the work to you then go for it.
