87 Wagoneer, running rich and smelly

After reviewing your website I got the feeling you might know where I can find my information. I have a cream puff 87 Wagoneer with 70K miles on it, I have recently had the mechanic tell me the Jeep is running rich which is causing it to eat the gas and create a smelly smoke as they often do when running rich. We tried adjusting the carburator and got fluctuating readings with NO real results. The engine is rebuilt, the carb is new, the exhaust guy told me he thought it was not the converter or o2 sensor, any suggestions?

Dallas, I've got the same issue with my 88 GW! It's rebuilt w/ new carb and doing the same dang thing. It will also hard start and have trouble with the choke in cold weather upon start up! I have added an MSD ignition, MSD Coil, and, MSD wires, and it still is pulling this crap! Can anyone help us!!!!!
