I had a mysterious switch on mine too. Traced it to the trailer plug. Was to charge the trailer battery while towing.

I am going to say it is for the silent dog whistle that the PO used to call his dogs when they went out in the woods.

Or it might turn on the electric fuel pump. The electric fuel pump was added back near the tank to overcome vapor lock issues.

I am going to go with silent dog whistle, until you track it down and prove me wrong.
