So... I think I'm leaving it alone.
I was considering a cam swap due to subpar performance at altitude( I know nothing about carbs). But not anymore.

I drive back to the Tyler Texas area from Colorado Springs today.

The further I got down in elevation the more she breathed.

I had it loaded down, the entire spare engine (500 pounds?), about 300 pounds of tools and gear, and another 150 of personal items all stuffed inside with the rear seat folded forward.

After I got to around 800 ft in elevation she started to tear down the road. I was passing everything but the gas stations.

I stopped checking mileage after it initially recorded 7.82 MPG ouch.

Avg speed was around 78-80 and she held those speeds uphill.

A guy in a newer expedition tried to cut me off before a lane merged we both gunned it and The Flying Toaster just walked away.

I am extremely impressed with the power and fun factor of these motors. I just need to find another one now

I will be adding a 2,000 stall though. Not because I need to, but because I want to roast tires and make launches really aggressive.

Gots to luv some raw power.
What was the gps speed compared to the speedo.
Also it appears that my mpg calculation didn't allow for lead foot factor

Honestly, with the crappy add a leaf and block in the back I couldn't look down long enough to pull up the GPS speedo app. It was all over the place.

It's too much fun. On another note the valve covers leaked all the way here and it only had 3 quarts when I got home. It's making a clicking noise now. I took off the valve covers to check all the rockers and pushrods. Nothing seemed loose or bent so I retightened them. Any ideas?

It doesn't sound like a rod knock because its too quiet.

Wiped cam lobe. Thats the first sign, excess play. The cam lobes are splash lubricated off the crank, so if the oils low the splash is reduced. That's how I realized my I wiped the cam on my first Stroker build in the WJ. Man I hope im wrong

Well fecal matter. It didn't have play but I guess I need to order another can. The 260H I still have laying around isn't enough cam for it.

It's really strong too. It does feel like its missing.

misfire would be caused by an exhaust lobe not opening the valve enough, blows out spark. But you certain its not a cracked plug or bad wire they sure will snap, clack like a loose rocker.

I'm sure it's not the rockers. I pulled the covers, loosened the rockers, and retightened all of them. I also checked for play and wear as well as pulled each lifter and checked for bent ones. It might be a cracked plug or exhaust leak. It started immediately after a cold start up in Colorado.
