4.0 L in-line six block drain plug

I have a 1989 Jeep Commanche 2WD pickup with a 4.0L in-line six cylinder engine. I am trying to remove the block drain plug but can't seem to find anything in my tool box that will work. Does it take a special tool? Can anyone give some advise?

I am trying to flush the system and install new anti-freeze and I also want to install a manual temp gauge as this vehicle is running extremely hot constantly.

Thanks for you help.
