229 transfer case
I have a 1989 Grand Wagoneer that had its transmission destroyed by a tow truck driver. It sat for years, but I've replaced the 727 with a rebuilt one and have the engine running nicely, but the beast won't engage in any gear. Will the 229 transfer case function at all with the viscous coupler trashed?
any other ideas?
The 229 has a 2wd mode, that should get you moving. If you can get it into 4 low the VC is not used. Do you get anything when you switch gears? Does the engine slow down at all?
Like Ollie said you want to check the vacuum actuation on the T_Case make certain its going into 2wd and not stuck in 4 high.
