Great information, so the 1990 is not all wheel drive? And there is absolutely no need to take off the front drive shaft. What about gas Mileage? He said 14 miles to the gallon, 360 v8 is a big engine, anybody have an avg gas mileage on it?

Mine is nearly stock 1 rebuild .030 over, not certain what was done internally by the previous owner. It is very well tuned by me using a wideband 02, has electric fan, HEI ignition with MSD coil, Single exhaust no cats and all the smog BS removed. I get 13.6 on the highway <70mph. If it is getting 14 that is likely the best it will ever get. Aside from an overdrive swap, fuel injection, and performing other things to reduce wind resistance. Mine is on a 4" lift and 31x10.50's with tow package 3.31 gears. Check under it you can read the tag on the T-Case and verify its an NP229 case. All the 90's I knew of were 229 equipped. It should have the 2wd/4wd slider switch at the bottom of the dash on the right side of the steering column. Then a high/N/Low flag shifter under the driver seat against the trans tunnel.

Yes it has all that you described. Well I guess I'll have to ask him to put that driveshaft back on so I can test the 4wd. Other than that everything else looks pretty good.

Truck looks good for 3K. You can find a good used front seat. There is some trim missing from the rear passenger door panel that I can see. Mileage isn't a huge concern if it's been taken care of and 14 MPG is really good. I get about 9 in the city and 13 on the highway at 65.

Yes, have him put the drive shaft back on. His reason for removing it doesn't make sense. The 229 has a 2wd mode. But a lot of people bought into this.

Also, read this:
http://www.ifsja.org/tech/tcase/selectrac.html

It explains how to operate the transfer case. You will want to check both 4 hi and 4 low.

No problem. 4lo on pavement is okay but keep it in a straight line.

Well want to thank everybody for replying toy post and giving me some really good information to use when considering the purchase of a '90 Grand Wagoneer. Everything considered I think I'll pass on this one. Once again thank you for your replies.
