1980 CHEROKEE very bad exhaust manifold need advice

my dad just picked up a 1980 cherokee with a 258. the thing must have about 250,000 miles on it and was leaking around the carb somewhere. when we removed the intake and manifold found an enormous hole in the neck of the manifold near the center 2 cylinders.

what kind of suggestions do you have for a new manifold, trying to not spend too much money, if it gets too expensive i think it's pretty easy to snap a 4.0L head on the 258 and gain some HP.

what do you guys think??

anyone here ever done the 4.0L upgrade with a throttle body rather than a carb???

If you want to stick with the 258, I would recommend a header from Clifford performance. These are not too pricey, and can be had with single or dual outlet. The factory manifolds are notorious for cracking. I replaced the cast iron OEM header/manifold on one of my trucks three times for severe cracking before switching to the dual exit Clifford header, which subsequently outlived the engine and is now mated to it's replacement.
