1970 wagoneer holes in dash? why ?

I am a new comer to Jeepforum and have gotten some really good advice. I happened to notice theseholes in my dash....3 holes above the speedometer....3 above the radio ....3 above the enblem on the passengers side......they appear to have always been there...does anyone know what may have been the purpose?

I would rather have a tool I don't need, than need a tool I don't have.
