Ya it should how close is that upgrade to direct swap or is it

It is direct swap except you have to add spacers between the knuckle and hub assembly since the wj knuckles are about 1/4" shallower on each side.

Jks sells the spacers or you can make your own with a little time and patience

got some progress done on the mj

got the control arms on, upper control arm bushings in the axle, axle in truck, shocks on, wj knuckles on, coils in, and some other stuff.

still waiting on my sway bar links to come in(even though i'm not sure if they're gonna work)and some jks spacers for the knuckles.

oh and i accidently got my pinky finger with the hammer in the midst of it all

Don't have any plans for a drop pitman arm yet. If I do happen to use one it'll just be off a V8 zj from the junkyard. Those will give you a 1" drop

i have a 4.5" lift on my zj without problem so i wasn't really expecting it to be a big deal. i guess i'll wait till it's together and see how it turns then make a decision from there.

ok so my sway bar links came in the mail yesterday. first thing i did was remove the bushing sleeves from the lower bushings.



then i test fitted them. and they fit perfect on the tractor pins. popped the clips on there and now i've got quick disco's should i ever need them. and for only about $26.









oh and i forgot, my wj drilled/slotted rotors and pads got here. rotors look sweeeet! now i just have to drill the 5x4.5 pattern in them.

needed a break from the heat so i'll go ahead and do another update today.

tightened down the wj knuckles, and i picked up a set of these wobble extensions from harbor freight for about $10 and this sucker worked awesome for the upper ball joint nut.







i also decided to go with the crossover steering setup the wj knuckles use. picked up this wj tie rod but of course it's much to wide for a xj or even a zj setup. even adjusting the ends all the way in, it was still to wide.



so my first instinct was to try some shorter ends off another vehicle. i went to o'reillys, auto zone, and advance to try and cross reference something but none of them were any help due to out of stock parts or just pure ignorance. so i returned home a little discouraged and then even to realize that had i found shorter ends that it still wouldn't have worked due to the bends in the wj ends. without these bends the tie rod will hit the diff cover when the steering wheel is turned all the way.

so after a few seconds of looking at it and pondering i then of course came to my senses and cut the damn thing in half and cut about 3" out of it.



threw some of my not so great looking welds on there.



and ta-da! this would also be a pretty great upgrade for anyone wanting to beef up there tie rod since these wj tie rods are alot beefier than the cheesy xj/mj/zj stockers.

so this is for the ****** at auto zone that told me it would never work.

You pan on running 15's? If so what backspacing? Also using the stock drag link is smart..could get you by for a while I'm sure..Never even thought of that lol. Keeping track bar in the stock location?

yes i plan on running 15's. not sure what backspacing(haven't measured them yet) but they should work without a problem as I'm running similar 15's on my zj.

i wanted to upgrade the drag link but i'm running out of $$$ and need to get this thing back on the road. also plan on using the stock track bar location, i have an adjustable one i plan on using.

it won't get done until sometime in the future but i'm also planning on doing a dual steering stabilizer setup on it.

Hey bud, Could you drive way flex it for us? Flex both sides, lock - lock both sides! Maybe pull the coils and flex it...everyone says it won't work with the stock track bar setup & you could prove everyone wrong! I'm extremely curious to see if you will have issues with the drag link & track bar contacting or binding! I'm at 3" and have thought of the Wj swap, but a OTA track bar would eat my oil pan before full flex! So to do a crossover setup, I'd need the track bar in the stock location.

Please please please help me here man
Also you may try to sleeve the tie rod with pipe or DOM..just to keep it beefy & not have it bend or break!
