wont go in to 4 wheel drive

the shifter is very hard to move and I dont want to brake it so I am not going force it. It went into 4 wheel before and it was easy to move. When it went in to 4 wheel before every thing worked great. Dose anyone Know if I am doing some thing wrong or do I need to fix some thing?

Have you tried moving forward lightly as you shift?

Did you try pushing the shifter over to the right while you are shifting.

yes it is verry hard to move the shifter. I can tell where the spots are for 4H and 4L. the one time I got it to work it went in real smooth and was not hard to move.

It's possible that the linkage might have come loose.
