What stock trans. should this MJ have?

The truck I'm buying was ordered in Nov. 1988 and delivered in Feb 1989. I've read conflicting dates on when the AX15 replaced the BA10. Most of what I've seen says that mid 1989 was when it changed, including the information on this web site pertaining to the BA10:

http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/ba10_5.htm

"The Peugeot BA10/5 transmission is a five-speed, overdriven, light-duty, passenger car transmission used by AMC Jeep from 1987 until mid-1989..."

But then they turn right around and contradict it with the information on the AX-15:

http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/ax15.htm

"The Aisin Warner AX15 transmission is a very successful, medium-duty, standard shift, five-speed transmission. It was introduced in the 1988 (mid-year) YJ Wrangler and XJ / MJ Cherokee / Comanche Jeeps, and found in 1988-1999 Jeep XJ, YJ & TJ models."

Was it mid 89 or mid 88? Was there some cross over during this period where different assembly lines ran out their BA10 stock at different times?

Thanks for any advice on the best way to tell what's under this truck when I inspect it in the next day or two. It is a cherry 100k ml. unmolested one owner...and priced accordingly!

Thanks,
Chad

Look at it. The Puegeot has a seam in it running front to back. AW looks normal.

The time now is 04:42 PM.
