What axle is this?

This is my buddies 1986 Comanche. We're trying to figure out what rear axle he's got. I can find any numbers to use, where would I look on the housing for serial numbers? Thanks for the help

I think its a chrysler 8.25 but im not a comanche or cherokee guy
