Stealing Gasoline

Because of rising gasoline prices, there have been several incidents of people stealing gasoline by siphoning from the gasoline tank. It was suggested that people install a locking gas cap. I have heard that some vehicles are equiped with a feature that prohibits anyone from siphoning gas from the tank...myth or truth?? Should I purchase a locking gas cap for my '99 4.0 Cherokee ??

Jeep models do have the feature, but it is not impossible to siphon from them. Just makes it a pain to get the tube down there.
