spare tire info

Does anyone have any pics, or info about the spare tire setup for a Comanche, 86 if it matters. Also, can you just replace the big "wingnut" on the wire that lowers the spare, or do you need to replace the entire setup??

Have an 86 Comanche, the spare tire pulls up on a cable just behind the rear bumper like many vehicles do. Not sure what your actual question or problem is though to answer you?

If your "big wingnut" part has broken off but the rest of it still cranks up and down you wouldn't actually have to replace the entire thing to just get it working again. All you would need is a long enough metal dowel or bolt to hold the tire and wrap the cable around this bolt fixed with a "U" bolt or "Cable Clamp". Probably cost you an entire dollar for all of it at Home Depot.
