Need Some Help - What Do You Think Of This Jeep

My friend is looking at this Jeep and hasn't been to look at it but I fear he is kind of an impulse buyer and I don't want him to make a mistake. Just reading the ad makes me a bit weary, usually when people say their truck is a BEAST they really mean it has some beastly problems.

Anyways, here is the ad:

JEEP Comanche

And here are my questions:

1) Who makes an 8" lift? In the TJ world that is an excessive amount, maybe not for a Comanche, but what problems come along with a lift of that height that he should look out for?

2) Did all Comanche's come with the 4.0? In the TJ world 4.10's stock means you either have a Rubi (4.11's actually) or you've got an SE which comes with the lovely 2.5L, does that transfer to Comanche's?

Any help you guys can give me would be great. I know I'm not giving you a lot to go on and I may just give this guy a call myself tomorrow to see what's up I just want to arm myself with a bit of knowledge so I can properly advise my friend. Thanks guys.

2.1 (Renault diesel), 2.5 (carbed or injected), 2.8 (Chev V6, '86 only), 4.0L are the motor options. I found one with a 2.8 for $200 I may play with next year (I have a fuel injected 2.8 to put in)

It sounds like he has changed the ratio in the rear to acomidate for the 33's. or by chance he may have one that came with a factory Dana 44 with 4.10 gearing from a factory towing package. That wasn't common but is found on MJ's and some older XJ's.

In an MJ to get that kind of lift he probably has a Spring Over Axle (SOA) mod with either bigger leafs (not likely they are a very long odd sized spring) or add a leafs and lift shackles. On the front thats a different story it would take a lot to lift the front end that much and to only put 33's? sounds fishy. I had 33's with some fender trimming and a 4" lift. Another thing is they don't really make many kits for MJ's so it is most likely a home fabricated job. I would want to see some pictures.
