Interior restoration HVAC questions

1991 MJ. I have my interior removed. I suppose I should replace my heater core/evaporator and replace the weather stripping. What else should I address while the interior is removed? Thanks!

Good. That is the main killer of these things. Might consider refreshing ground under the dash. Past that, i can't think you're on the right track. Only other thing i could think of would be dummy lights (if you have them) to full gauges.

I have the good gauge cluster. Treated floor pans with Rust Bullet Automotive Coating and then Black Shell from Rust Bullet. Sound deadener is going on next. Today Im installing the front clip from a 2000 XJ and a upgraded headlight harness.

Probably too late but if I had one stripped that far I'd clean up the fire wall, POR 15 it and the floors and Monstaliner both. Futureproof it from rotting out inside, especially since the cabs like to leak in those areas.
