gearing in a 87 mj?

i have an 88 mj with dana 44 and 3.07s sitting on 33's.
i obviously need to upgrade. i found a 87 with a d44/d30 with a 2.8 in it. he's asking 450 for both axles. the guy doesn't know the ratio and wont look for me. i'm not really wanting to drive an hour and a half to find another set of 3.07's. i cant find anything online about the 2.8 specs only the 2.5 and 4.0. does anyone know what gear ratios these had in them?

that's because the 2.8 wasn't offered in 87. based on that mistake, there's no way to know the ratio for certain without either popping open the cover and checking the stamping on the ring gear, or spinning the drums around and counting the times the yoke spins.

Obviously your smart phone doesn't show that he's in Hawaii.

And Pete, I can't remember but there wasn't a 2.8 with a Dana 44 behind it?

Unless sawpped, D44's didn't show up behind 2.8's. M20's however, did.

That's tickling the cobwebs in my memory banks. Makes sense.
