Cold Air intake question

Im looking to get a aftermarket air intake for a 89 comanche, with a 4.0. I have found nothing that claims it will fit anything later than 91. I believe that this is due to the renix engine? What I am asking is would just any intake work, or schould I buy a univeral rubber tube and filter.

And finnaly would this be a good idea or no?

If anyone could help I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance

I just got the spectre intake pipe from autozone for 40 bucks along with the large airfilter. The employee autozone said it should work, but I haven't installed it yet.

What are you supposed to do with the "umteen" vacuum lines going into the air box, there are two small ones that go into the back, a larger near the top, and a really big "cloth" hose that attaches to the very front.

what happens to these?

I don't think the CAI is worth it. Actually it's a hot air intake as it ingests air from the engine compartment instead of in front of the radiator support like the stock intake does. And then, there's the issues of the CCV system working properly as you expressed your concerns as to what you're gonna do with all the vacuum lines.

I'm a fan of the guys who run the intake hose into the cowl area at the base of the windshield.

That seems to make more sense and really serves a purpose if you are in the water.

Thanks for the info. But one more question has anyone ever run a HO intake on a renix? I am aware that the Renix has extra tubes, but have the engine out now so I cant tell if it would make a differnce if removed.

They connect to the Airtube. The hose on the very bottom can just be disconnected.
