Charging Problems

Hey guys I'm the proud owner or an 89 MJ and I've recently stopped driving it because it broke down on me and won't hold a charge! I've replaced the alternator twice thinking I might have bought a shotty one, new battery cables, and even installed a red top optima battery, still to no prevail. If I give her a jump and let the battery voltage run up, she'll run until the battery can't turn the engine anymore. I want to do the one-wire conversion to make it easier on myself but I don't know how. Can anybody shed some light on the conversion? Or can anybody help me with my charging issue? Thank you so much!

Don't bother with a conversion yet. Got a volt meter?

Thanks for the thread man I'll do it all when I get home. Do you have any idea where I can find a pigtail for the alternator? The previous owner did a hack job on the wiring and I need a new harness

Parts store. It's a GM part. I wonder if the PO has the wires reversed?

Haha I wish it was that simple. I'll get some photos of it loaded today. He butchered it, and thats putting it lightly. I went to oreillys and they dont have the part so I cant figure out where to find the harness. Chrysler doesnt make the part anymore
