another Comanche on/off the road

My 1989 4x4 longbed has bin sitting in my wifes dads yard for 4 years! After a starter, fuel pump, exhaust from manifold back, and a bunch of light bulbs. O yea cant forgit the trans filter. by the way what would the best trans fluid for my automatic transmission? Valvoline atf III is what I used with some lucas. The old stuff could of bin coffee. One other question the emass maint light is on what could be setting this off? it runs like new only 100,500 miles on it.

The emission maintenance light is probally from the oxygen sensor. They are programmed to go off at the scheduled maintenance interval (around 85,000 miles). They cant be reset you can either replace the timer or just disconnect it.

Yeah, that light is on a mechanical timer and goes off no matter what is going on with the truck. Most guys just disconnect it, but that depends on if you have inspections in your neck of the woods. Worse comes to worst you can likely get a replacement at the dealership.

91+ have a real light and that likely means your O2 sensor is bad.

a new O2 sensor and taking out the light bulb so I could pass inspections. The o2 was rusted so the air could not pass threw it. 4 screws to get to the bulb very easy just put the trucks shifter all the way to the right the bulb pulls strait out.
