I noticed there is one for XJ lifts, it would be nice to have one dealing with the different MJ rear options so that info is all in one place. Other than rear suspension set-up, I don't think there is enough difference for anyone to benefit from seperate forums, I know I would just end up reading both anyway.
Exactly! Sorry, I just now saw your post...

Having a better search engine, posting up some spec sheets for MJ's, and detailing lift options for MJ's would be the way to go for atleast now. And if we need to put a specific number on how many MJ owners we'd probably need......how about 50+? Nice round number...

But even then, the XJ crew can always help as long as they realize that anything from the firewall forward is the same as a MJ . Most of them don't realize that! That's one of our problems.

But so far we need to do: better search engine, post spec sheets and lift documents, and keep technical threads about MJ's rolling. Have we got anymore suggestions?

You could group the MJ's with the SJ's... The SJ's could sure use the company...

What I don't understand is how they messed up when they made the Pick-Up section. It only includes the J-series pickups, not the FJ's, Gladiators, or MJ's!?! What's up with that? But personally I think they should change the name of that section to J-series pickup section or something. I really wouldn't want to see the MJ's merge with that section, as not only has Kev not been on since FOREVER, but that section is completely abandoned and worthless. And my vote still pressures that we keep the MJ's with the XJ and if they were to have a seperate MJ section, that it would not merge with the existing pick-up section.

Merging the MJ crowd with the J-trucks would be a BIG mistake as there is nothing in common between the 2 except for maybe the steering box

Exactly, as also they shouldn't have called it the "pickup" section also. I have no idea why they call it that, but I've heard a few comments that the pickup section USED to have all the trucks in it until they realized they had no similarity. I'm not sure if that's true, but that might be the reason why they had called it the pickup section.

I agree with everything Countryjeep says. I would add one thing though; several people had indicated no commonality aft of the firewall. I am glad they are wrong. I have purchased many in cab parts from junkyard XJ's. Last time I checked the cab was aft of the firewall.

Yes, the cab has some similar parts. But really, considering the seats are benches for most MJ's, and even the MJ bucket seats are mounted differently than the XJ, the cab of the MJ ends after a few feet and has a one piece end with a sliding window, and a headliner to match. Meanwhile the Cherokee goes all the way to the back, with a headliner to match, with some seats in the middle, and maybe some extra doors, ending in a hatch instead of a solid rear end, it goes to show that a lot of parts are completely different after the firewall.

OK so it looks like the majority wants a separate forum for MJs... I'm actually surprised that a few want to keep it with the XJs - of course you will still be welcome here! The problem is there won't be many XJ guys venturing over to the MJ section. If you need technical help on something that is identical to the XJs and you try the MJ section with no luck, I see no problem with posting the question again in the XJ section, just like I have posted in the TJ section on occasion.

I do agree that the J-Series section needs a different title than Jeep Pickups! Look at how many people have posted questions about the MJ over there. Even though your numbers are few, I bet you will have more traffic than the J-Series section does at present.

I also agree that "if you build it, they will come" but it probably won't happen overnight. Kind of like this Cherokee section. I was here during its infancy and it was real slow at first, for a long time. Now it is one of the most frequented Cherokee boards on the net, not to mention the Stock Specs thread we created IS all over the net (some copied with permission, some not).

I will forward this thread to the admins to ask for a separate forum. Ultimately they have the final decision as to if it will be separated or not. Until then, if any of you feel strongly about changing your vote, please send me a PM and I'll do it so the numbers reflect as correctly as possible. The names I can't erase though.

I have looked, and I can't find the specs for the MJ's anywhere. No reference to wheel base or anything. this might help some of the MJ owners out there, considering the long bed and short bed are both different from the cherokee.

DANGIT, I tried and tried and tried to get on here in time..........I wanted to ask if maybe I could be moderator of the new section?! Is or was there anything that I had to prove? I would have asked sooner, but my internet's been down..........

The reason I ask of this role is because that I realize there isn't gonna be much going on on the MJ section. And we all know that the XJ crew probably will stop checking up on us pretty soon. Well, I want to be there for the MJ crew, there to help! I may not have alot of knowledge about MJ's, but I certainly have enough. And what I don't know about them I have very good reference to the information. I ask of the role so that I'll be able to setup spec sheets, document information, and lift setups, etc., to be there to help, to make sure everything stays in order, and hopefully to get the section up and rolling. I know it's alot to ask for considering that I'm kind of new on here, but my knowledge has been proven throughout the XJ section. I can make a good moderator!

So, I'm just asking. It would mean alot to me............

I am also kinda new here, but I too know a lot about MJ's and Xj's too. My knowledge can be verified by several members here. I might not be to much on the stock specs, but I can tell you what works, and what doesn't. Also I am a realist when it comes to building these trucks. My mods might seem impressive, but most of my parts are acquired through trades, or through building/selling jeep parts. I guess I need to start printing and writing some of the poor boy tech articles I have been working on too.

Yea, I was thinking that if I didn't qualify to be a good moderator maybe because of my age or sumtin, that line is right up your alley. But I'm sure none of us are going to get the role of moderator, but maybe someday after time goes by...........

........but has anyone made a final decision on a MJ section???

We are so few in numbers and the modified owners are even fewer that it will take time for them to come out. But as long as they (jeepforum) makes it more obvious to the users that the MJ and xj are pretty much the same except we have more storage, and less room for freeloaders to sit we can all get along hey and the round headlights pick on both the MJ's and the Xj's cause we are square just like the yj's If anyone has any questions that I can help them with just drop me a pm or an email.

Ditto here, I'll try to help out in anyway possible too................seems like we're running our own little campaign that's gonna get both of us nowhere in the end

But yea, there are so few MJ owners, and certainly fewer modded MJ owners. But btw, I'm looking at this MJ in town that's maroon and purple (yes, BUTT UGLY) and I think I might pick it up and make a neat little project vehcile out of it without having to get rid of my current MJ. Just wanted to note that...

But anyway, are any of us eligable of being a moderator for a MJ section? I'm still against having a MJ section, but if we have to have one, I'd make a good moderator! I can supply a good deal of information about MJ's to anyone with questions, I promise stock and spec sheets, lift setup choices, and underbody layouts. I also promise to be on atleast once every 2 days in the least..........sounds like I'm campaigning

But anyway, HAS ANYBODY CONFIRMED A MJ SECTION IS GOING TO BE OPENED?
