He is transplanting 1997+ fenders and grill assembly on to an old Comanche. It is a common swap that people do.

Transplanting the fenders and grill is a fairly simple bolt on procedure. Just need the matching fender liners, flares, and bumper end caps. The only difficult part is splicing wires for the integrated 1997+ light wiring harness.

Yea, started stripping the donor xj today. Although I've got a 4.0 I.L I think I'm keeping the 2.5 four spd til it dies, then ill swap.

Ok so I finally did the swap today. Got all my parts together and just went for it. And I gotta say, it went pretty smooth for the most part. Heres what it looked like before I started [IMG][/IMG]

At this point I was surprised it was so clean and rust free underneath. But I figured While i had it apart it would be a good idea to clean the apron around the wheel well and undercoat it to prevent any future rust. I didnt take pics of that but you get the idea. From there It was Quick work putting it back together. Fenders went like clock work. [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG]

When Putting the fenders on I realized that where the old ones had 3 bolts going down the front, the new fenders dont even touch to put bolts in. Now if your checking out this thread and thinking about doing this swap yourself, dont fret. When you put the headlight mount panel on it will secure the front of the fenders more than enough to compensate for the 3 bolts that you wont be able to put in.
