It adjusts the shift points of the transmission. Basically makes it rev higher before shifting, mostly used while pulling a load or driving off-road. All 4.0 AW4 MJ's, XJ's have them from '87 to '91.
It may adjust the shift points, but it also flows more fluid through the tranny and torque converter, which helps it lock up better. That's what I was told by a Jeep mechanic, anyway.

Oh really? well if I'd have known that.... I leave it off because it makes it harder on gas, but if it helps it lock up better for more tranny life then I'm all for it:laugh:
