'86 MJ 2.8L replacement motor?

One of my co workers informed me that i could swap the crappy 2.8 with a small block 350 and it will bolt in fine.

Thoughts? Knowledge?

Im looking for a motor i can do an easy swap out. One that has carburetor and mechanical fuel pump. And less vacuum lines please! I wanted a 4.0 but thats more work and changes. So im sticking with the GM hookups available now.

I would go find a salvage engine 3.4L from a Camaro or Firebird with the least miles.
You will have to add your intake/carb and distributor, would be the easiest swap
and give the best bang for the buck for a performance increase.
You might need a flywheel/flexplate this route if the balance is different.

Sure you can drop a SB in it, but your going to need to fab motor mounts, and find a bellhousing,
maybe even a whole tranny...
