1990 Wagoneer tranny prob
New guy here. I looked for a Wagoneer section but didn't find one. I apologize if I'm posting this in the wrong location!
I have fortunate enough to be given a 90 model Wagoneer and I was hoping one of you guys might can help me out with a shifting issue. The vehicle was last used at the end of hunting season last year and it has set up and not been drove since. The tranny was shifting fine the last time it was driven but now it doesn't want to shift out of first gear unless you get the RPMs really high - like close to 5K. It has the 4.0 inline 6 cyl, auto tranny, 4WD. We have tried running the truck about 15 mph in the grass while trying to shift it into park, letting it grind a little trying to free up the governor - this was recommended by a buddy of mine - which didn't help. We had to add a quart of trans fluid and also added a bottel of SeaFoam stuff for transmissions. I don't think the transmission is hurt since it was running fine last year, just think something has hung up with it sitting for several months. If any of you guys have any suggestions I would sure appreciate it!! Thanks in advance! Matt
