1986 Jeep comanche 2.5l 4 cyl

Hey guys i have a 2.5l 4 cyl 1986 jeep comanche custom...it has 45k origional miles on it. The issue is that i think the engine is blown i was going up a hill and lost all power compression was not so good in the 1st 2nd and 4th cylinders i wanna know if i should swap out the engine or replace the head gasket. If i swap the engine is it worth putting a bigger engine in? or cheaper and less time consuming to look for another engine thats the same.. I appreciate any feedback and input thanks for your time!

Put a good used or a rebuilt engine in.

$800 is quite high for a used engine in my neck of the woods.
