F>R swap (V8 springs) will get you 3" every time. Been there, done that and it's well documented.

F150 springs will make it drive like a dump truck. The spring rate is totally wrong for a ZJ and that is well documented as well all over the interweb.

Measured before and after at the fender lips....

I don't think the Jeep rides bad at all. I drove it to Tampa and back across I4, and didn't notice a rough ride... but then again my DD is a 04 Silverado w/ the HD towing package. It definatley rides stiffer than the factory ride, but it doesn't seem bad to me.

Now my friend did the same w/ his ZJ, and he used the 4WD F-150 front springs, and HIS jeep rides like a dump truck...... I used 2WD springs.....

I was contemplating moving the F150 springs to the back, and then getting a set of 5" lift springs for the front, but I really don't want THAT much lift.

BTW Xerxes - It looks like less lift because of the tires I have on it. Those are just a set of used 235/75 15 BFG Long Trail's. You look to have 31's on yours. My friend has 32's on his ZJ, and his looks like yours. There are pictures of his ZJ as well on my FB page...

Use V6 thunderbird front springs instead of f150 springs. The spring rate on the thunderbird spings is closer to stock, and they will net you around 3.5" of lift.

Ive got V8 fronts in the rear w/ 3 1/2" and about 100lbs. of crap in the back.
I removed about 5 sets os V8 fronts at the JY, measured them all and kept the 2 longst springs. No pics, Im at work.

That's good to know, hopefully the v8 springs I got will work just as well for me.

For future reference, here is the info on the thunderbird springs:

Front coil springs from a 3.8 V6 equipped Ford Thunderbird/Cougar offer 3-4in of lift and the softer ones noted below ride and flex like stock XJ coils.

83-88 TBird, Cougar = more lift
89-97 TBird, Cougar = less lift

Spring ratings:
Front: 223-282 lb./in. 3.8 liter V6 *closest to XJ ratings* these coils are used on the bare bones basic cars
Front: 349-403 lb./in. 3.8 liter SC Loaded with every option, very stiff ride
Front: 270-330 lb./in V8 Medium ride

I'll update this thread after I get the thunderbird springs and install the lift.

At first, no... but I have them now. My front axle only needed to be shifted over by about 1/8". My rear needed to be shifted about 1/16".....

My front axle is the stock Dana 30. I had the U-joint axleshafts, but I switched to the CV style. I still have my U-joint shafts, but I need a end for one of them because I broke the ABS tone ring on it. My rear axle is a Dana 44a w/ an Aussie Locker.

My lift is still right around 3-3.5"...

As for the shocks I use... they work, but they wear out quickly for the fronts. The rears have held up pretty good. I have the lifetime warranty shocks, so when they wear out, I just clean them up and take them back. LOL...
